Do you have lots of leftover yarn lying around, but find it difficult to see how the different colors can work together? Or would you like to challenge your usual color choices and become a little more adventurous when combining colors for your knitting projects?

Then this creative course might be just what you’re looking for!

I’ve created a 4-week course where we’ll explore colors, color theory, leftover yarn, and stripe techniques. The goal is to give you new tools for working with the yarn you already have and inspire you to create your own personal color stories.

The course is divided into four parts, each introducing you to new perspectives, practical exercises, and creative challenges. You can follow the course over four weeks or work through it entirely at your own pace.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INCLUDE?

PART 1 – GET TO KNOW YOUR YARN STASH & UNDERSTAND YOUR COLORS

We begin with your yarn stash. You’ll get an overview of your leftover yarn and learn to see it as a color palette rather than a collection of random yarn. You’ll also get an introduction to basic color theory and learn how to describe the different qualities of colors.

PART 2 – SEEING COLORS & CREATING COLOR STORIES

We’ll shift our focus away from the yarn stash and out into the world. You’ll find inspiration in your surroundings and learn how to turn what you see into actual color combinations. Then you’ll experiment with creating your own color stories using yarn from your stash.

PART 3 – STRIPE TECHNIQUES #7 & #8

Now it’s time to get some yarn in your hands!

You’ll be introduced to two stripe techniques, #7 and #8. These techniques give you specific rules for how to change yarns and colors, helping you create an intentional look, even when working with lots of different leftover yarns.

You’ll try out both techniques and discover how the same colors can create completely different results.

PART 4 – FROM COLOR STUDIES TO A FINISHED PROJECT

Finally, it’s time to put your new knowledge into practice with a real knitting project.

You’ll receive the Nor Sweater pattern for both children and adults. A simple, basic sweater that gives you the freedom to work with your new color stories and stripe techniques.
